An estranged friend (or strange friend) of mine
replaced the pickups on his classic Fender Stratocaster with some modern counterparts and
gave me the originals. They sat around in one of my shop drawers for several years until I
got the idea of making my own Strat-style guitar and installing the pickups on it. Since I
was knee-deep in other projects, I purchased the body and neck from Stewart-MacDonald's
Guitar Shop Supply. The neck was already finished, so I just put a quick cherry finish on
the alder wood body and wired the thing up. Gloryosky! It sounds just like a real Strat. Yes, you too can build your own electric guitar at 1/4 the cost of the real thing. Operators are standing by. |
