This is a kit I ordered from Music Kits. It's actually a very good playing instrument fretting true all the way up the neck. The wood is cherry with a light walnut stain. I wiped six coats of tung oil varnish over the whole thing then rubbed it out with Deluxing compound. The "Coog Moon" inlay is from some of my restaurant-obtained abalone (farmed). The skin is a small 6 inch hand drum that was made in Mexico. The gears on the head are cheap but very functional, and the 5th string tuner is a good Grover. Now that I know how these are made, I'll try some on my own. Stay tuned.
