Chris Mosher

Chris Mosher was our resident eccentric and standup comedian. His actions often disturbed and frightened some of our superiors, especially Top, our First Sergeant, who tried to avoid Chris as much as possible. In the above picture, Chris is dressed in his "Swiss Army" outfit. He actually convinced many "lifers" that he was a member of the U.N. Forces. He had a village tailor sew on special name tags and patches. One tag said L'Armie Suisse (or something like that), and his name tag said Cristof. His 2d Division patch had L'Armie Suisse embroidered on it. With his camouflage beret and dark glasses, he presented a formidable sight. He put himself into the role for almost two months, full time, and we began to think he did flip out and had convinced himself he was Swiss. However, one day the whole Swiss persona disappeared, and he cycled through many others before going home. (Chris later became our lead singer in Throckmorton, in San José, California, from 1969 through 1971.)
