Western & Railroad Pulps
The Westerns were the most important of the adventure pulp offshoots and became the most popular of all forms of pulp literature. The first western pulp to arrive, and to replace the earlier "dime" novels, was Street & Smith's Western Story Magazine (example on next page). It appeared on the newstands in July, 1919.
The following pages contain covers, many from my own collection, and short informative pieces on the artists and writers. Clicking on the thumbnail pictures reveals larger images.
