Number 5 is my fourth dreadnaught-style guitar (counting Number 4, the resonator guitar). I re-styled the head to taper to a triple-rounded point. The "Coog Moon" is abalone (farmed abalone--the remains of a restaurant dinner--I kept the shells). The front is Douglas fir, which I resawed from chunks of 100-year-old Portland, Oregon, factory/warehouse columns given to me by my good friend and bass viol builder Phil Yost. The sides and back are oak, around 3/32" thick, and the neck is maple and kingwood laminations. The bridge is also kingwood. The neck and head veneer are both ebony. With medium-gauge steel strings, this one is pretty loud, but light on the treble side. With slightly heavier B and high E strings, however, it equalized pretty well.
