Those who organized the Aquarian Family Festival included members of the Dirt Cheap Productions, Mu Lights, the Throckmorton communes, and others I can't remember (sorry). It started out as a free alternate concert to the commercial one being put on at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds about a mile away. The fairgrounds promoter was so angry about the free concert that he pulled the plug on the Jefferson Airplane after Grace Slick told the crowd how groovy the free concert was. I heard the Airplane walked off the stage and went to the Aquarian Family Festival to play--for free.
