The shape of the guitar, and the fairly wide neck, made me think "classical." I used some of my stash of old-growth Douglas fir for the top to which I fastened fan bracing. I rejoined the neck, which was broken at the heal, and put on a new ebony fingerboard. I cheated with the bridge and soundhole rosette purchasing them from Stewart-MacDonald's Guitar Shop Supply, along with the classical tuners. I sanded the whole thing down to 600 grit and applied around six coats of tung-oil finish, lightly sanding between each coat. It turned out to be a pretty looking guitar, but only a fair sounding one.
