Viola da Gamba

I built this for Marilyn and Dalton Cantey around 1983-84. They bought a Gamba kit and asked if I could complete it for them. This kit came with the sides shaped but nothing else. The top had to be joined and carved, and everything else had to be shaped and sanded. The neck and head were unfinished so I carved a rather delicate scroll on the headstock. The Gamba is walnut and spruce, and it is fairly light for its size. It sounded beautiful when Marilyn played it.
